Logos Hope in Hambanthota

In the context of novelty Tharunyata Hetak headed by Honourable Namal Rajapaksa is at the fore front.In serving the youth we strive to be the best.

The logos Hope ship docked in the Hambanthota Harbour on the 18^th of July 2011.They brought with them a world wide collection of books which they collected in their journey of about 40 years.The youth got an ultimate opportunity to view and buy books which was rare and would provide valuable information.Tharunyata Hetak headed by Chairman /Member of Parliament Honourable Namal Rajapaksa joined hands with Logos Hope and opened the book fair on the respective date .The guest of Honour was Vice Chairman Honourable Yoshitha Rajapaksa the event was followed by a cultural show of 12 participants from different countrys.This also gave an opportunity for the Hambanthota youth to experience different cultures.

The event was coordinated by Mrs Savithri Pandithrathna, Miss Kithali Jayawickreme,Mr Ravi Chaminda Attapaththu and Mr Neil for Tharunyata Hetak.

Sri Lanka has protected and preserved the Noble Teachings of Lord Buddha for over 2500 years. Sri Lanka has been instrumental in spreading the message of Buddhism across the world through the building of temples, monuments and publication of many Buddhist books and literature which have been protected and preserved as the Noble Teachings of Lord Buddha through the years.

To commemorate “Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi” which marks the 2600th year of the Enlightenment of Lord Buddha, which was celebrated in the year 2011, under a concept of Chairman/ Member of Parliament Honourable Namal Rajapaksa special program was coordinated by Tharunyata Hetak,National Youth Center and Mahmevna Asapu Sanchitha .The program was – 2600 devotees observed Sil at the Maharagama Youth Center on the 16th of May 2011.A full day program was held under the observance of Venerable Kirbathgodagnananada Thera.

The program ended successfully an instance of primary predominance is that His Excellency the President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Honourable Mahinda Rajapaksa also graced the occasion where he was given a special blessing by the Venerable Kirbathgodagnananada Thera.

Enhancing employability of youth

In addressing the issues on unemployment, we have identified the inability to create a match between the potential job applicants and the available vacancies in the market .In an in depth analysis the predominant problem is lack of soft skills .In accordance to a concept of the Member of Parliament /Chairman Honourable Namal Rajapaksa . “Enhancing employability of youth”, “Tharunyaye Rakiya Nipunathwayata Saviyak” sees light in the concern of addressing the most vital issue for youth which needs an urgent address.The first step of the program was held in the Singapore hall of Suriyaweva on the 26th April 2011 at 9.00am.Tharunyata Hetak tied hands with Carsons and Cumberbatch & Orient academy .A curriculum was drawn up with the intention of sharpening the knowledge of post A’level students awaiting employment.Special significance was given to the areas of English and Computer Studies.At the end of the program the applicant will be well equipped to be chosen at an interview and also face the challenges in the work place.We are prepared create the platform for you to be winners.In creating change we are at the forefront where our mission is your success. The program was headed by Mrs Savithri Panditharathna,Miss Kithali Jayawickreme,Mr Neil Kumara, Mr Ravi Chaminda,Mr Roshan Jayatissa and Mr Dushmantha Koddipili Weerasingha.

6th Tsunami Memorial Service

In remembering our own who are grief stricken we do out best to do our part..Tsunami memorial service was held 26^th December 2010.

The program was held at 9.00am with a tribute of flowers to Tsunami Monument at Paraliya.The event was headed by Honourable Namal Rajapaksa and other political heads and representatives from the southern district was present.

A special arm giving was held for 100 Buddhist monks which was after a train of Buddhist monks from Colombo to the south chanting pirith at the very time Tsunami happened 6 years ago arrived at the venue.Also needy children of the area was given school uniforms.

The event was headed and coordinated Tharunayata Hetak ( Ravindra Samarawickrama,Daminda Ranawaka, Namal Wariyapperuma and Upali Gamage),Dakshina Lanka Bhikshu Sangamaya,Three forces and Police.

Tharunyata Hetak in accordance to a concept of the chairman Namal Rajapaksa held a spiritual program on the 14t of February 2011 in Samanala Uyana in Galle.Youth and representatives from the three forces participated the program .The program was held based on the life of queen Yashodhara and her devotion to king Sidhdhartha and the spiritual bond

Sri Lanka President holds bilateral discussions with world leaders at the UN summit

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is attending the 65th session of the United Nations General Assembly is to hold several bilateral discussions with other Heads of States.

President Rajapaksa engaged in these bilateral discussions with leaders of friendly nations on the side lines of the special UN Summit on Millennium Development Goals convened by the UN Secretary General.

The President met the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani in New York yesterday (20) and had discussions with him on the current developments in Sri Lanka.

The Emir of Qatar has responded positively to a request by President Rajapaksa for Qatar to supply Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) to Sri Lanka for development needs, the government media unit said today.

During the discussions the Emir has agreed to help in the development of Tourism in Sri Lanka, with increased visitors and investment in the industry and to assist in the further development of the Sri Lankan National Career, SriLankan Airlines.

Both leaders reaching a close understanding on mutual cooperation between the two countries have agreed to improve the bilateral relations between them.

Foreign Minister Prof. G. L. Peiris, Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva and John Seneviratne, and parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa also participated in the s=discussions with the Emir.

President Rajapaksa also met the Chancellor of Germany, Ms. Angela Merkel at a reception hosted by her in New York yesterday.

The President is expected to meet several other leaders today on the sidelines of the high level plenary meeting on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), commenced yesterday at the UN Headquarters.

He is to apprise them of the post conflict development and peace situation in the country seeking support for the development projects.

Sri Lanka has accorded highest priority to obtain Foreign Direct Investment to boost its economy in the country in addition to its all out efforts to promote economy by way of enhanced productivity in the fields of fishery, agriculture and the tourism sectors, the government has said.
