On a request made by MP Namal Rajapaksa the Transport Ministry has taken steps to operate a special train service from Colombo to Katunayake for the convenience of the public travelling to the BIA. This will be done in joint collaboration between the Transport Ministry and the Ports and Aviation Ministry.
The Transport Ministry will also introduce a luxury bus service from the Katunayake Railway Station also at the request of the MP.
According to MP Rajapaksa the service which being a boon to the travelling public would also benefit the tourism industry. MP Rajapaksa accompanied by Transport Minister Kumara Welgama, Deputy Ports and Aviation Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena and Deputy Ministers Dayashritha Tissera and Rohana Dissanayake visited the Fort Railway Station yesterday (12) to inquire into preliminary steps taken in this regard
