Today’s youth are the leaders of tomorrow. Their role in the development of the country is indispensable. Youth should be provided with opportunities to bring out their talents and make them contribute their part for the country’s development, said Tharunyata Hetak Organization President Namal Rajapaksa.
It is with these objectives that the President initiated the Tharunyata Hetak program, he said. Rajapaksa was addressing a UPFA election rally in Malwana on March 25. The rally was organized by Biyagama SLFP Chief Organizer and Gampaha District UPFA candidate Duleep Wijesekera.
Rajapaksa said there is no political background to this. The main aim of this project is to give the talented a proper status, he said.Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia are in the forefront in all aspects of development in the international arena. This is mainly due to the fact that the Government gave priority to the youth’s role in the development activities, he said.
There was an era in this country where youths were denied their rights and killed or abducted for no reasons. People of Gampaha District never forget the ill-famed Biyagama Batalanda Camp used to torture youth, Rajapaksa said.
Sri Lanka will become a shining example in all aspects in international circuit in the years to come through the Mahinda Chintana – Idiri Dekma, he said.
