Sri Lankan President visits parliament to see son Namal takes oath as MP

Apr 22, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa who has decided not to address the inaugural session of the seventh Parliament that convened today (22) was however seen inside a box near the Parliament translators.

A photographer attached to a local media institution had managed to photograph the President inside the box in a pensive mood while following the parliamentary proceedings.

It was later said that the President had arrived to see his son, Namal Rajapaksa, who won the elections in the Hambantota District with a record number of preferential votes, being sworn in as a new member of parliament.

First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa also visited parliament and watched her son being sworn in from the VIP section.
